At Þingvellir is the story of the Icelandic nation in all its power. The world´s first parliament was established in Þingvellir the year 930 and continued to convene there until 1798. All the most important decisions in Iceland´s history were taken at this spectacular place. Þinvellir was the first National Park in Iceland.
The Þingvellir Lake is famous for big trout´s and is also the largest lake in Iceland. Lava fields covered by shrubs surrounds the lake and crators forms small islands. We take a short walk in “Almannagjá” canyon and look at other interesting things at Þingvellir. Estimated travel time 3-4 hours.
