Snæfellsnes Tour
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula is often called “Iceland in Miniature” — and for good reason. Within a relatively small area you experience glaciers, volcanoes, dramatic coastlines, lava fields, fishing villages, and black pebble beaches.
At the heart of the peninsula rises Snæfellsjökull glacier and volcano, made world-famous by Jules Verne’s novel Journey to the Center of the Earth. The glacier has long been associated with mystery, folklore, and powerful natural energy, but it is only one of many highlights on this tour.
We drive around the peninsula, exploring both the south and north coasts. On the southern side we visit Hellnar, a small coastal village beneath the glacier, and Dritvík, where you can see the remains of an ancient harbor and experience the raw power of the Atlantic Ocean crashing against the shore.
On the northern side, we pass through charming fishing villages, where daily life still revolves around the sea. Along the way, we explain the area’s volcanic history and stop at extraordinary lava formations shaped by centuries of eruptions and erosion.
Snæfellsnes offers a remarkable variety of landscapes in a single day and is one of the most diverse and visually striking regions in Iceland.
